Then a masculine voice spoke up, demanding things in a menacing tone.

In the background, Ms DeStefano heard her daughter sobbing and begging for help—"Help me, mom, please help me," Before lowering the demand to $50,000, the con artist demanded $1 million in exchange for the daughter's freedom.
