Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for 2024

23/7/2024,

It can be called a coincidence that this time the budget of the Bhajan Lal government of Rajasthan was presented by a woman minister, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, in the State Legislative Assembly, and on Tuesday in the new Parliament House, the Finance Minister of the Modi government, Nirmala Sitharaman, will present the general budget of the country in the Lok Sabha.

This time in Rajasthan, the farmers' budget was presented along with the original budget. Similarly, Nirmala Sitharaman will continue the tradition started by the Modi government of having the Railway Budget along with the Union Budget.

The residents of Rajasthan, the country's largest landmass, are expecting a lot of help from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman this time as well. Although the people of every state have a lot of expectations from the Union Budget, Rajasthan has some more expectations because Rajasthan has become the largest state in the country in terms of area after the formation of Chhattisgarh, which became a new state after being separated from Madhya Pradesh.

In any case, Rajasthan has had its own peculiar geographical conditions since the beginning. Rajasthan is home to the largest desert in Asia, the Thar Desert. The cost of providing roads, water, electricity, and other basic services is very expensive because the service cost here is much higher than in other states.

The country's largest international border with Pakistan also passes through Rajasthan, and there is a need for more central assistance for the development of border security areas. Rajasthan is facing a severe water crisis. Despite having ten per cent of the total area of the country, the amount of underground and surface water in Rajasthan is only one per cent.

Most of the blocks in the state have been declared as dark zones. In many parts of the state, drinking water has to be delivered through tankers and special trains in the summer.

Many areas don't even have access to drinking water. Due to the high amount of fluoride in the water, many areas of western Rajasthan are infamous as Banka Patti, and this contaminated water traps people with diseases related to teeth and bones. Animals are no exception. The assistance of the Government of India is essential to improving the quality of water and bringing fresh water to these areas.

To get rid of this water problem in eastern Rajasthan, the ERCP project was built for 40 thousand crore rupees during the tenure of the BJP's Vasundhara Raje government, which was also promoted by the Congress government of Ashok Gehlot, but the question of declaring it a national project and the agreement with Madhya Pradesh heated up so much that the project could not be completed.

The present Bhajan Lal government of Rajasthan, after assuming power, has given full importance to this ambitious project like the previous governments and has also signed a new MoU with Madhya Pradesh for the PKC-ERCP project to benefit the people of 23 districts of the state with drinking water and irrigation facilities.

Later on, the Indira Gandhi Canal Project became its new name. The entire region, even the arid and desolate desert, has been revitalised by this effort. After this, the state also got another big project, the Barmer Oil Refinery and Petro Complex, with the help of the central government, which is expected to change the map of western Rajasthan.

After this, the PKC-ERCP project is now expected to change the map of eastern Rajasthan, provided the Government of India provides adequate financial resources by giving it the status of a national project.

The farming of the farmers of Rajasthan is completely dependent on monsoon rains. Small farms run by farmers are not able to produce good crops due to a lack of good rainfall. Monsoon rains and shortages of ground and surface water have often led to drought and famine conditions in the state.

Also, due to the adverse geographical conditions of the state, all the previous governments of the state have been demanding special status for Rajasthan, like the hilly and border regions of the country. Over time, in the changed circumstances of global warming, these governments have also been declaring Rajasthan a backward state in terms of drinking water and have been requesting 100 per cent central assistance.

Rajasthan is also a world-famous destination for tourism. Apart from the heritage of the historical places, grand palaces, forts, and Havelis of the state, along with the innumerable heritage properties existing from the sixth century to the eleventh century in the state, the art, culture, food, etc.

here attract domestic and foreign tourists. Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was also present on the occasion. In this regard, Rajasthan has a lot of expectations from the Union Budget.
