International Tiger Day 2024
29/7/2024,
These wild animals, which include the Siberian tiger, the white tiger, and the Royal Bengal tiger, each proudly dominate their respective habitats. However, the tiger population is quickly declining due to reasons like habitat degradation, illegal wildlife trade, and climate change.
On 29 July, people around the world observe International Tiger Day to raise awareness of the need to protect this endangered species.Tigers can survive in a variety of natural habitats, including grasslands, mangrove swamps, tropical rainforests, and even winter woods, due to their intrinsic capacity to hunt.
The population of these amazing animals has decreased by over 95% since the beginning of the 20th century, despite their ability to adapt. According to World Wildlife (WWF), there are currently 3,900 tigers estimated to be living in the wild worldwide.
No matter where they roam in the wild, tigers are the most formidable predators in their region. By feeding on other animals, they contribute to maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Without them, the prey population might skyrocket and harm the ecosystem. Tigers are therefore vital to the natural food chain.
Climate change is one of the factors that has put the tiger population in danger globally. Rising sea levels and global warming affect tigers' habitat, which in turn affects the range of prey species that tigers seek.
Furthermore, these tigers might be compelled to roam near human areas if their habitat shrinks, which could lead to conflicts between humans and animals.
