A man from Mumbai was given tea cups in place of a phone worth Rs 54,999.

He contacted Amazon about the problem, but the company's answer fell short of his expectations.

Chavan asserts that no resolution was given, even after promises of an inquiry.

Imagine receiving a package containing a set of tea cups instead of the smartphone you ordered on Amazon. This was 42-year-old Mahim, Mumbai resident Amar Chavan's frustrating reality. Chavan, a deputy engineer at Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), encountered this strange circumstance not long after ordering a Tecno Phantom V Fold 5G from Amazon for Rs 54,999.

When Chavan received his Amazon delivery on July 15, that is when the accident occurred. He was shocked to see that the shipment included a set of tea cups instead of the smartphone he had been waiting for. Chavan immediately contacted Amazon's customer service after realising the error, anticipating a speedy resolution.

Nevertheless, he encountered setbacks and broken promises in his endeavours.

PTI stated (via TOI) that Chavan took his complaint to Amazon, but the company did not respond well to it. Chavan asserts that no resolution was given until July 20th, even after promises of an inquiry. "I complained over the phone to the buying portal. They promised to look into it and get back to you, but they didn't until July 20. I called them, and they stated they were helpless and wouldn't provide me with their investigative report, so I went to the police," Chavan added.

In an attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding the mix-up, Chavan has given the police access to CCTV footage of the delivery procedure.

His tale comes after another unpleasant event involving an Amazon delivery where a Bengaluru woman named Tanvi recently found a snake inside the package containing her Xbox controller.

She said that because Amazon's customer care was unhelpful, she and her husband were forced to handle the unexpected situation alone.

These incidents draw attention to ongoing issues with online shopping and customer support, emphasising the necessity for increased accuracy and promptness when resolving delivery-related issues.
