Andhra Pradesh Election : Results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Election 2024:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by N Chandrababu Naidu, is expected to triumphantly retake power in Andhra Pradesh. Trends for the state's Assembly elections show that the TDP and its allies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party (JSP), are going to win handily.

In sharp contrast to its meagre 23 seats in the outgoing Assembly, the TDP is now dominating with 130 out of 175 seats.

This comeback illustrates Naidu's fortitude in the face of difficulty and occurs just a few months after his imprisonment in an alleged corruption case.

The TDP is leading in 16 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, while the BJP and JSP are leading in three and two divisions, respectively, demonstrating the coalition's electoral victory. This impressive performance points to broad support for Naidu's leadership at the state and federal levels.

Only 24 seats separate the ruling YSR Congress Party, which is led by the current chief minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, from the lead. This sharp change in the preferences of voters occurs five years after Reddy's party humiliatingly defeated Naidu.

At the TDP headquarters, excitement has been building as word of the approaching triumph spreads. The TDP and BJP's closer collaboration is highlighted by the announcement that Naidu would take the oath of office as chief minister on June 9 and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to attend the event.

After more than 40 years in politics, the 74-year-old Naidu begins a new chapter with this election. Beginning in student politics at Sri Venkateswara University and rising to the position of three times as Chief Minister, Naidu's career has been distinguished by calculated decisions and development projects, most notably his contribution to Hyderabad's transformation into a tech hub.

With Andhra Pradesh bracing itself for this momentous political transition, all eyes are on Naidu, who has proven again and again that he can overcome obstacles and guide his party to victory.

Record Attendance

Andhra Pradesh recorded an extraordinary turnout of 81.86% in the most recent elections, surpassing its previous record of 79.68% from the 2019 general elections.
This percentage comprises 1.2% of votes cast by mail and 80.66% of votes cast using electronic voting machines (EVMs).
57 assembly constituencies had voter turnout above 85%, while 117 assembly constituencies had voter turnout above 80%. With 90.11% of voters, the Darsi assembly constituency in the Prakasam district had the highest turnout.
Out of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, 15 had turnouts above 80%, with the Ongole Parliamentary Constituency having the highest turnout at 87.06%.

The Election Commission reports that there was a fierce election struggle in Andhra Pradesh recently, with 2,387 candidates running in the Assembly elections and 454 candidates contending for 25 Lok Sabha seats.

Political Rivals and Coalitions

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by actor Pawan Kalyan, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forged an alliance in the state of Telugu. The Congress and the YSR Congress Party presented them with fierce competition.

Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the YSRCP, thanked voters for turning out in spite of the extreme heat. "I would like to thank my sisters (women), aged (old people), brothers, farmers, SC, ST, BC, minority and young voters for coming like a tsunami to bless me in the elections," Reddy wrote in an article on X. He also pledged to keep up the excellent leadership and thanked everyone who had put in a lot of effort for the ruling party.
