 William Shakespeare - What's in a name?       Playwright and poet William Shakespeare ruled the world for more than 500 years He was born at Snitterfield in the Avon district of Warwickshire, although his date of birth is not available, he was baptised on 26 April 1564. Shakespeare was educated at King's New School in Stratford. His father was an agriculturist and a businessman. He was an officer in the Panchayat of Stratford. But by 1577, the situation had changed. They were stripped of their powers. As a result, Shakespeare's education at the free school in Stratford was interrupted and he was forced to work. At the age of 18, Shakespeare married 26-year-old Anne Hathaway. There is no record of when Shakespeare began writing. However contemporary records show that many of his plays were on the London stage by 1592. This is borne out by playwright Robert Greene's take on Shakespeare around the same time.
