China wins both gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris,  with Liu taking first place. 4/8/2024, Their 1-2 result in the strongman's event provided some vindication for China's gymnasts, who had just missed out on gold in both the team and all-around finals.   Liu Yang displayed his strength and successfully defended his Olympic championship in the rings final on Sunday, giving China the much-needed first gold medal in gymnastics at the Paris Games. The 29-year-old defeated fellow citizen Zou Jingyuan, winning 15.300 to 15.233.   The Chinese gymnast Zou, who won the silver medal, was the best qualifier for the final. Hisashi Mizutori, head coach of Team Japan, called Zou's ring routine "beautiful, powerful, and inimitable."   He lost out on the gold on Sunday by the narrowest of margins, 0.067 of a point. With a score of 15.100, Greek Eleftherios Petrounias won the bronze medal.   China's gymnasts felt some vindication follow...

The price of gold is down 2% from its peak today due to profit booking, while silver is down 3%. 20/7/2024, By 1422 GMT, spot gold had dropped 1.8% to $2,401.49 an ounce. Before this, gold reached an all-time high on Wednesday of $2,483.60. Bullion hit a new high earlier in the week as expectations of a U.S. interest rate cut in September grew. But on Friday, as investors cashed in and the dollar strengthened, gold prices dropped by more than 2%. By 1422 GMT, spot gold had dropped 1.8% to $2,401.49 an ounce.    For gold, pullbacks following new highs have been a regular trend in recent months; comparable declines occurred in May, April, March, and December. The peak was followed by a decline that levelled out in roughly two weeks, stabilising the market and sending it back up.   But bull markets don't last forever, so traders need to be alert for signs that the bullish trend is shifting. According to Alex Kuptsikevich, senior market analyst at FxPro,...

The price of gold remains negative below $2,430, with no continuation in the risk-off

The price of gold remains negative below $2,430, with no continuation in the risk-off     19/7/2024, • September Fed rate drop bets should restrict the USD and assist limit losses for the XAU/USD; • Gold price corrects further from the record high amid some follow-through USD purchasing. Prospects for the appearance of dip-buying near $2,400 are supported by the technical setting. For the third day in a row, the gold price (XAU/USD) is still seeing selling pressure and is falling away from the all-time high reached earlier this week. The only factor driving the decline is the US Dollar's (USD) continued recovery from Thursday's nearly three-month low, which is expected to weaken demand for commodities denominated in USD.   The US Dollar (USD) builds on the previous day's solid recovery from over a four-month trough, led by the post-ECB slump in the shared currency, and is seen as a key factor exerting downward pressure on the commodity. The downfall ...

Asia's Gold Demand Is Expected to Remain High This Year   Observations show that Asian gold buyers are interested in buying gold despite the metal's high price, which is affected by macroeconomic and geopolitical risks. Attendees of a precious metals symposium this week in Singapore expressed optimism for the future of bullion, pointing to the high demand for it around the region. This follows a record rise that has seen prices soar beyond $2,300 an ounce, with gains of 16% since mid-February.   On the fringes of the conference, Rhona O'Connell, head of market analysis at StoneX Financial Ltd., said, "It is evident that the shift in sentiment has resulted in higher prices, which has ultimately drawn people back in." But it's not just about the cost; risk and uncertainty are what determine the cost as well.   The Gold Business's Political Impact Political risk was a major issue during the Asia Pacific Precious Metals Conference, since electio...
