On Sunday, June 9,

terrorists assaulted a bus carrying pilgrims from the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu, to the Shiv Khori cave temple. The attack left at least ten passengers dead, including a child, and numerous others injured.

Terrorists attacked a 53-seater bus in Reasi at around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, causing it to deviate off the path and plunge into a steep valley.

The catastrophe claimed the lives of nine persons and injured thirty-three more.

This alleged terrorist attack on the tour bus brings to memory an identical occurrence that happened in Jammu and Kashmir on July 10, 2017, involving a vehicle transporting pilgrims from Gujarat travelling to Amarnath.
52 passengers were saved by driver Sheikh Saleem Gafoor despite intense gunfire, although seven pilgrims lost their lives and 19 others were injured.

The incident was denounced and condolences were sent by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Congressmen Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Updates regarding the terrorist assault in Reasi are as follows:

1) President Murmu demanded harsh censure, calling the incident a "crime against humanity." "The terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district pains me greatly.

This horrible act is a crime against humanity and ought to be condemned vehemently. The nation stands in solidarity with the families of the victims. "I pray for the injured people's quick recovery," she tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi instructed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to monitor the situation and ensure that the affected families receive all the assistance they require.

"The Right Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi assessed the circumstances and gave me instructions to keep a close eye on things and make sure the families get all the help they need," Sinha wrote in a post on X.

3) The LG added that the perpetrators of the incident will soon face consequences as security personnel have joined forces to seek down the terrorists.

4) Reasi SSP Sharma verified the commencement of a rescue effort, transferring wounded pilgrims to adjacent medical facilities.
Although the identities of the injured and dead have not yet been established, preliminary indications indicate that they are from Uttar Pradesh.

Shah added that in order to assess the situation, he had spoken with DGP RR Swain and LG Sinha.

6) Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, expressed her sorrow over the killings and her sympathies to the families of the dead and urged an investigation into the tragedy.
"I was informed that there had been an attack on a group of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in nine fatalities. An investigation into the situation needs to be done right now. I send the families of the victims my sincere sympathies," she remarked.

7) New BJP MP Kangana Ranaut also condemned the attack and prayed for the deceased while wishing the injured a quick recovery. "I vehemently condemn the horrific terrorist attack on the pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir. I pray for the departed and hope for a quick recovery for the injured.

8) Meanwhile, the opposition voiced their disapproval of the assault and targeted the BJP in particular. Congressman Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "This shameful incident is the true picture of the worrying security situation in Jammu and Kashmir."

9) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge declared, "We unequivocally condemn this gruesome terror attack on our people and deliberate affront to our National Security."
