Three major providers serve Ghana: Airtel Tigo, a state-run company, MTN Ghana and Vodafone Ghana.
Singh believes that NGIC has an advantage in the market due to its partners, technical prowess and 5G license. Ascend Digital Solutions Limited and K-Net, two African companies, account for five percent of the new business. Less than ten percent of NGIC will be owned by the Government of Ghana, with the remaining shares going to private investors and regional mobile operators.

Reliance-NGIC's cooperation is also a diplomatic victory for India, which has been using initiatives like digital inclusion to fight China's growing influence in Africa. Currently, Reliance has no equity in NGIC; however, NGIC may offer Reliance the opportunity to accept a portion of their payments as equity in the future, Singh stated to Bloomberg.
