Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, 17 August 1666

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, 17 August 1666

The above date is not a normal date. Every day has its destiny. This day has brought such great fortune.

In the history of the Marathas, this day is a day that should be engraved in the heart.
What happened on this day?

On this day, 355 years ago, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj freed himself from the clutches of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

It was an unusual event in the history of the world. Aurangzeb was the ruler of the largest, richest, and most powerful empire in the world at that time.

So Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: Shivaji Maharaj still wanted to become Chhatrapati. He was still a feudal lord of the small province of Pune.

But his name had started to reverberate in the Hindu community.

When all the kings of Hindustan were surrendering to Maharaja Aurangzeb or dying fighting with him,

In the south, a man named Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj—Shivaji Bhosale—imposed fines to stop this death storm in Aurangzeb.

He had a very strong chest, like a Sahyadri. His dreams were as high as the mountain peaks of Sahyadri.

When the entire Hindustan was lost in the darkness of the Mughals, Shivaji Raja lit the torch of freedom in the south.

It didn't take long for her to become wild. As Aurangzeb began to get angry, he used all his strength to crush this fragile dream of the Maharaja.

He also had success. Mirza Jaswantsinh deposed the Maharaja. They defeated them completely.

And sent them to Agra to meet Aurangzeb. That was the order. Maharaj had to follow it.

This visit was on the occasion of Aurangzeb's fiftieth birthday. Maharaj was thirty-six at the time. This meeting took place on May 13, 1666.

But Aurangzeb did not take the opportunity to pay due respect to this brave man there. On the contrary, he insulted them.

However, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj dispelled his belief that he would remain silent like others and stand with his head bowed before him.

He asked Aurangzeb to answer for his insult in court and left.

Aurangzeb had called the Maharaja, not originally for a visit or to do business.

He wanted to cut them off. After Maharaj angrily left the court, he got a chance.

But Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did not dare to do anything to Shivaji Raja. Because it was likely to endanger politics in the south.

But he wanted to complete Maharaj's work, and Maharaj also had this thing in mind. So he immediately started the movement.

They petitioned Aurangzeb to send them back, but Aurangzeb ignored them.

Maharaja then requested to let his men go. Which Aurangzeb accepted.

But soon after that, he posted his guards at the Maharaja's residence and imprisoned him indirectly. Maharaj must have been shocked to see this.

Chidel would be furious. They may have cried. But only for a while.

The original self-respecting, cautious adventurer in him would have woken up immediately and started thinking about getting out of this situation.

Because after being imprisoned, Maharaj started to do his tricks cleverly without getting tired.
They realized that Aurangzeb would kill them, but not immediately.

He took advantage of that. To escape from the clutches of Aurangzeb, he started the policy of Samdamdandabhed.

He first started filing a petition to make Aurangzeb understand that he was scared and vulnerable.

He started moving his men out of Agra first. After that, he sent most of his treasure to Swaraj.

Aurangzeb did not respond to their requests to fight on his behalf. He was preparing to send them to Afghanistan.

After knowing this, Maharaj took a different stance.
They discriminated against him. Maharaj fell ill suddenly.

So much so that now they could not even leave their living room.

He took proper care that all the information about how sick he was would reach Aurangzeb in a spicy manner.

Using the excuse of illness, he sent more of his men to Swaraj. On the other hand, she started doing charity.

He had decided to escape from prison. Even before this, Maharaj had gone on life-threatening adventures. Cheating should be measured.

By considering all sides. With a very detailed plan. He did the same this time too.

It is more likely that they faked illness only after thinking about how to escape from captivity.

After that, he also thought about who should go and who should stay.
He also sent the people who had gone with proper instructions about what to do.

He also gave the remaining people instructions on what to do.

He made a sincere effort to convince Aurangzeb that he was ill and would not survive.

He probably even believed it. Aurangzeb had to destroy this enemy of his by any means.

That is why he must have believed in Maharaj's illness. But that didn't mean he was completely oblivious.

He also prepared to kill the Maharaja.
Soon, Maharaj would be shifted to another place.

They were not going to get out of there alive. He and Maharaj also knew. So it was necessary to try to escape before that.

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did it. It is not certain whether Maharaj escaped by sitting in the sweet box or by any other means.

But it is certainly not that they escaped by chance. He had planned and carried out his plan.

They may have taken various measures for that. Even one mistake by anyone would have ruined the whole plan.

But Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's men were Bilandar adventurers like him. So no one was left behind to do their assigned work.

On August 17, 1666, Maharaj and Sambhaji Raje finally came out of captivity secretly.

Even after that, they must have already planned what to do next and which way to come to Swaraj.

They were in Mughal territory, and Aurangzeb was not going to let them go easily. Maharaj used shock tactics.

No one thought of the possibility that they would or could escape from captivity.

So Aurangzeb had no plan for how to deal with such a situation if it arose.

This is exactly what Maharaj took advantage of. So everyone was shocked that they escaped.

They suffer from witchcraft, which is why they disappeared. When such rumors arose later, the possibility of Maharaj's involvement cannot be ruled out.

He kept Aurangzeb completely oblivious.
He later became furious, but he too must have been convinced that Shivaji would not fall into his hands again.

That is why Varkarani suppressed his anger. He hid his embarrassment.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Swarajya: When Maharaj returned, he wisely sent a Khalita to Aurangzeb and returned without meeting you.

When he asked for forgiveness for this, Aurangzeb also forgave him, pretending that nothing had happened.

Not only Maharaj's plan but other plans were also on life. Fall of Shahistekhan,

The killing of Afzal Khan, the looting of Surat, and the escape from the siege of Panhalgarh were all carefully planned by him.

And their mawlas carried out those decrees. That is why Swarajya stood.
