Six flights experienced passenger disruption when they were redirected to neighbouring destinations during the NOTAM period.
Six aircraft were rerouted to neighbouring locations at Manohar International Airport (MIA) in north Goa on Wednesday, May 22, after a lightning strike damaged the runway edge lights, an airport spokesman reported.
According to RV Sheshan, a spokesman for GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), the lightning strike-related problem was swiftly resolved by the airport administration. Normal airport operations were resumed after the damaged lights were fixed and replaced.
"The runway edge lights at Manohar International Airport (MIA), Goa, were damaged by a lightning strike that occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. In order to restore normal airport operations, the MIA issued a NOTAM (notice to airmen) that lasted until 8 p.m., the MIA official stated.
Six aircraft were rerouted to adjacent airports.
Six flights experienced passenger disruption when they were redirected to neighbouring destinations during the NOTAM period. The airport representative sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and emphasised that these kinds of natural disasters are out of human control.
