Agnikul Introduces Agniban SOrTeD: This ground-breaking accomplishment also represents the first fully indigenously developed and manufactured semi-cryogenic engine in India.

Launch of the Agniban SOrTeD 3D-printed Rocket Engine: On May 30, 2024, Agnikul Cosmos, a startup supported by IIT Madras, successfully launched the "Agni Baan-ASSOrTeD," the first rocket in history to use a fully 3D-printed engine. This historic accomplishment also represents the first fully indigenously designed and produced semi-cryogenic engine in India. The launch occurred from "Dhanush," India's first privately built launchpad, in Sriharikota.

Innovation in Technology

Agnikul Cosmos' use of 3D printing technology is a notable development in space technology. Agnikul Cosmos co-founder and CEO Srinath Ravichandran gave an explanation, saying, "We used 3D printing to make our engines as a single piece of hardware." In the process of building our rockets, what is often done with thousands of joints and welds was condensed into a single hardware component, saving money and time. This creative method improves the rockets' efficiency and dependability while also streamlining the production process.

This flight validates nearly all of the complex technology required to enable our clients' orbital flights. Thus, we can now reassure our clients that we can securely transport their payloads on our initial flights," Ravichandran said in an exclusive interview with Financial Express Online.
Agnikul Cosmos's capacity to fulfil its commitments is demonstrated by the triumphant launch of "Agniban-SOrTeD," which also represents a critical turning point in the company's development towards commercial spaceflight.

Overcoming Obstacles

Constructing a launch vehicle is a difficult task, and Agnikul Cosmos encountered several difficulties. "Developing a smooth launch operations procedure is a very different challenge than building a launch vehicle as a product."We needed some time to find out and perfect this procedure," said Ravichandran. More than fifteen teams from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR) collaborated in a well-planned way for the launch. The team had numerous rehearsals and attempts before perfecting the launch procedure.

Assistance from ISRO and IN-SPACe

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and IN-SPACe provided the startup with a great deal of support, which was essential to the successful design and construction of the first space-worthy hardware in India.

This partnership serves as a reminder of how crucial government assistance is to the growth and innovation of the private space industry.

Concerning Agnikul Cosmos

Agnikul Cosmos wants to enable launches from anywhere, at any time, and at a reasonable cost, with the goal of enabling space accessibility for everybody. The company is dedicated to creating launch vehicles that are economical and can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of its clientele.

Concerning Agniban

Agniban, the main launch vehicle, is made to work with Dhanush, the mobile launchpad, enabling flexible launches regardless of the launchpad's location. With the capacity to carry payloads weighing between 30 and 300 kg, Agniban offers versatility for a broad range of mission requirements.

upcoming plans

In the future, Agnikul Cosmos intends to launch an orbital mission by the close of the 2025 fiscal year. The company began servicing clients on flights on a regular basis in 2025. Agnikul Cosmos has big aspirations and groundbreaking accomplishments, putting it in a position to be a major player in the international space business.

In conclusion, Agnikul Cosmos' successful launch of "Agniban-ASSOrTeD" marks a significant turning point in the development of space technology. Through the utilisation of 3D printing technology and with the backing of IN-SPACe and ISRO, the startup has proven that it can create launch solutions that are creative, dependable, and economical. Agnikul Cosmos is poised to transform the space business and make space accessible to all with its vision of putting it within everyone's reach.
