Minister Maharashtra - Sculptor Yashwantrao Chavan Saheb

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj gave this Maharashtra a burning identity of self-respect, self-reliance and independence. Mahatma Phule awakened the identity and existence of Bahujans in this Maharashtra. Lokmanya Tilak taught this Maharashtra to lead at the national level. He called out to the nation that "Swaraj is my birthright, and I will get it". 

Babasaheb gave depth and height to the struggle of the oppressed. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil carried the
torch of education to the hut and Yashwantrao Chavan gave Maharashtra a cultured, civilized and total socio-political background. Chief Minister, Defense Minister, Union Home Minister, Foreign Minister, Union Finance Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Literary, Humorist, Good Man, Vyasangi, Reader, Dear Listener, Good Husband, Scholar, Analyst, Visionary Leader, all the roles of Yashwantrao Chavan do not fail. Yashwantrao Chavan S contribution to the making of today's Maharashtra is invaluable.

 Be it Koyna Dam, Ujani Dam, creation of Panchayat Raj-Zilha Parishad, establishment of Sahitya Sanskriti Corporation, Shivaji University, Marathwada University-Aurangabad, creation of Sahitya Sahawas or the work of bringing many people from Din-Dalit and general Bahujan society into politics. .The personality of  Minister 'Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan' has left a huge imprint on the political, cultural, educational, social and economic scene of Maharashtra... and will always continue to do so. This is our first CM of Maharashtra, the architect of modern Maharashtra..!!

On November 9, 1962, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru called  Minister Yashwantrao Chavan, who was the Chief Minister, and requested him to become the Defense Minister of the country. 'Sahyadri ran to the help of Himalaya' was the true description of that time. Because after the Chinese invasion and Krishna Menon's way of doing things, the army was completely demoralized and fragmented, in a defeatist mindset. At such a time, Panditji remembered Yashwantrao Chavan, it was the honor of Maharashtra and Yashwantrao Chavan. 

But this throne was thorny. The morale of the army was to be boosted and the reasons for the defeat with China were to be found and farsighted measures were to be taken. On November 22, 1966, Yashwantrao Chavan became the Defense Minister of the country. Over the course of a year, Yashwantrao Chavan held continuous meetings with the Army Chief, Defense Secretary, Finance Secretary and the reasons for the defeat of 62 were highlighted. 

 Minister Yashwantrao Chavan himself visited Kashmir, Nepal, Rajasthan border. He stayed with the soldiers, talked. Mutual trust between the army and the officers grew due to harmony and love Yashwantrao Chavan. A MiG manufacturing plant was opened at Ozar near Nashik. Signed defense agreements with Russia. And the result was seen on 24th April 1965. 

When Pakistan attacked in the Battle of Kutch, India won the supreme victory under the leadership of Saheb. Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri was the Prime Minister at that time. He glorified Yashwantrao Chavan by publicly exclaiming 'Dushman Ke Liye Talwar Hai Chauhan'.

 Minister Yashwantrao Chavan was sensitive at heart. On March 7, 1966, Ujani Dam was inaugurated on Chandrabhaga. Before that first CM of Maharashtra Yashwantrao Chavan went to Pandharpur. He bowed down at the feet of Vitthala and his eyes were filled with water like moons. 

Today I am blocking your moon. But the water contained in this will one day spread to the drought-stricken areas and from the grains of corn, Panduranga, your form will be seen.'' In the case of Koyna Dam, Yashwantrao Saheb's role was that of Bhagiratha. In 1947, it was Saheb's decision to give loan waiver to those who suffered in the riots after Gandhi's assassination.

When the Chief Minister was the first CM of Maharashtra, once his companion and his god wife Venutai wrote a letter to him asking him to send 100 rupees. The answer came, even today I don't have it.

Such is the rare wealth of Yashwantrao Chavan's life and mind...!! Such is the 'Utung Sahyagiri personality' and the architect of modern Maharashtra  Minister  'Yashwantrao'.
