OpenAI's Chat GPT is under stiff competition as rival Anthropic has launched its cloud chatbot on the iPhone. Founded by a group of former employees of OpenAI who left due to differences with CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic is currently competing with ChatGPT for the hearts of loyal clients with a platform that presently beats it in some intelligence metrics.

Scott White of Anthropic underlined the role that smartphones play in people's digital interactions. "To make the cloud a true AI assistant, we must meet users where they are - and in many cases, that's on their mobile devices.

The aim is to incorporate the cloud into our everyday lives, not merely make things more convenient.

Customers can purchase the third version of the cloud chatbot directly from the company's website. It is available in three flavours: the more complex and slower "Sonet," the faster and simpler "Haiku," and the more expensive and full "Opus" system, which is only accessible to the wealthy.



The "Opus" system became the first artificial intelligence to ever take the top spot in the LMSys rankings for chatbots, surpassing GPT-4 in the process. Its massive "reference window" also attracted media notice, as a gauge of how many conversations it can manage concurrently.

Special characteristics of the cloud With permission from the user, the Cloud iOS app can access the device's photo library and camera.

By taking a picture of the whiteboard diagram following the meeting and asking the cloud to summarise the key points, users can more easily share and act upon critical information.

In a similar vein, a customer can snap a photo of a plant while out on a stroll and ask the cloud to identify the species and provide more details about its traits and environment.


The company is marketing its business offering in addition to the iOS app. Through its "team" programme, corporate users can purchase chatbot access for any member of their staff.

The action is a component of Anthropic's goal to become a leader in AI security and research.
