Terrorists opened fire on security forces in Jammu and
Kashmir's Kathua. In the attack, 5 CRPF personnel had been martyred and 5 jawans
had been injured. This is the sixth major attack in the Jammu division in the last month, while it is the second major terror attack in the Kathua district in a
month.
It is being told that the attack took place on the
Machhedi-Kindli-Malhar road of Billawar. The 10 security personnel were on a
routine patrol on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road near Badnota village in an
Army vehicle. The terrorists had taken position on a hillock adjacent to the
Malhar road. As soon as the military vehicle passed, the terrorists ambushed
and first threw a grenade and then started firing with modern weapons.
A local guide helped... Security agencies suspect that
around 3 terrorists were involved in the attack. Not only this, local guides
are also suspected to be with the terrorists during the attack. The
responsibility for the attack was taken by the Pakistan-based terror outfit Kashmir
Tigers. The outfit said its cadres used M4 assault rifles, snipers, grenades
and other weapons in the attack.
The terrorist organization has vowed to carry out more such
attacks in the coming days. The outfit said the attack was in retaliation to
the killing of three terrorists in Doda on June 26. The Jaish-e-Mohammed is an
Islamic terrorist organisation based in Kashmir. The outfit had earlier carried
out attacks in Kathua, Reasi and Doda in the Jammu region.
Firing on a bus in Reasi
On June 9, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from
the Shiva Khodi temple in Reasi district. The bus fell into a gorge after the
terrorists opened fire. At least 9 people were killed and 41 others injured in
the incident.
After the attack, terrorists fled from the area. A search
operation has been launched to trace them.
