Lionel Messi sobbed during the Copa America final after suffering an ankle injury.
Early in the second half of Argentina vs. Colombia's Copa America
final on Sunday night, Lionel Messi was substituted off the play with what
appeared to be an ankle injury.
After 65 minutes of play in what might have been his final
major international match, the 37-year-old football icon was replaced.
Messi stumbled and immediately informed the trainers that he
needed help. Messi tripped over his own feet, even though it appeared as if he
was attempting to sprint as fast as possible.
Messi is leaving the field gingerly, taking off his right
cleat and his captain's armband. Later, Messi was spotted crying on the
Argentina sidelines, covering his face with an ice pack, and wearing an ankle
brace.

Later, footage from FOX Sports cameras revealed the extent of Messi's right ankle swelling. g. He kicked out with his right foot planted, bending awkwardly before. Messi winced in agony and repeatedly rolled over towards the pitch so the trainer could assess him.
