Reservation Bill For Kannadigas: The Karnataka government has taken a big decision regarding reservation in jobs. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah wrote on the social media platform Twitter (earlier Twitter), "In the cabinet meeting held yesterday, a bill has been approved to make it mandatory to appoint 100 per cent Kannada people in "C and D" grade posts in all private industries in the state.

Siddaramaiah further wrote that our government wishes that Kannada people should not be deprived of jobs in Kannada land and they should be allowed to live a comfortable life in their motherland. We are a pro-Kannada government. Our priority is to take care of the welfare of Kannada people."

What is the new bill?

According to the news agency PTI, under this bill, any industry, or factory will employ fifty per cent of local candidates in management categories and seventy per cent in non-management categories. Along with this, if the candidates do not have a secondary school certificate in the Kannada language, then they will have to pass the Kannada proficiency test specified by the 'Nodal Agency'.

If no qualified local candidates are available, then the establishments will have to provide training within three years with the active cooperation of the government or its agencies.

If a sufficient number of local candidates are not available, then an establishment can apply to the government for exemption from the provisions of this Act. Every industry factory or other establishment will have to inform the nodal agency about compliance with the provisions of this Act in a copy of the bill within the prescribed period.
