"Arriving in Paris for my last tennis tournament, the @OL Olympics," Murray wrote on his Twitter handle. It's been one of the most memorable weeks of my career, and I'm extremely proud to have done it for the last time!’

It was speculated that Murray would announce his retirement after the 2024 ATP Tour, but as things stand, he will retire after the Paris Olympics. He was recently knocked out of Wimbledon, disappointed in the men's doubles and disappointed in the men's singles. However, the withdrawal of Emma Raducanu in mixed doubles ended her Wimbledon career.

Two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray will go down in the history books as one of the greatest British players ever, having ended the country's Wimbledon title drought in 2013. He became the first British player since Fred Perry in 1936 to win the Wimbledon men's singles title in 2013, having won gold at the same venue at the 2012 London Olympics.

Murray repeated the feat in 2016 when he won the Wimbledon singles title again by beating Novak Djokovic in the final and also won the gold medal at the Rio Olympics.

The Wimbledon title in 2016 was also her last Grand Slam singles title, and thereafter injuries halted her career. Murray has also spoken about his long-term retirement on several occasions in the past. When asked if he would come to the commentary box, he turned down the opportunity and instead suggested that a career in coaching could await him.
