Now, let us discuss June, the Gregorian month. The sixth month of the year is June in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars.



June is officially here. Traditionally, June is a month where there is something political to do every day.


June is a particularly noteworthy month as well. June is when the Gregorian calendar begins. The Julian and Gregorian calendars both have June as the sixth month of the year. There are thirty days in the second month and five days in the third.less than 31 days. June is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. June 21st is the longest day of the year. This phenomenon is known as the Summer Solstice.

At the beginning of June, the sun rises in Taurus; at the end of June, the sun rises in the constellation Gemini. However, due to the precession of the equinoxes, the month of June begins with the Sun in the astrological sign of Gemini and ends with the Sun in the astrological sign of Cancer.

Origin and history

The Latin name for June is Junius. The poem about the Roman calendar gives several etymologies for the name Ovid in the Fasti. The first is that the month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, the goddess of marriage and the wife of the supreme god Jupiter; the second is that the name comes from the Latin word iuniores. Which means "little children." There is also a claim that June is named after Lucius Junius Brutus. He was the founder of the Roman Republic and the father of Junia.

In ancient Rome, the period from mid-May to mid-June was considered inauspicious for marriage. Ovid says that he consulted Flaminica Dialis, the high priestess of Jupiter, about setting a date for his daughter's wedding, and advised her to wait until June 15.
